Wash the peel thoroughly before eating the peach. If the peach has a soft spot, the peach should be checked.
Canned Peaches
Not infested under normal circumstances. Need not be checked
Dried Peaches
Dried peaches are not infested under normal circumstances. Need not be checked for insects.
The longer the dried peaches are stored, the more chance there is of infestation. If the peaches were not stored for an extended time, they Need not be checked. One may, however, want to look at them as one eats them.
If the peaches were stored for an extended time, or if one is not sure, one should rinse each peach on all sides and rub it while doing so. This is preferable to checking―since it is difficult to see the infestation on a dried peach.
