Asparagus: How to Check for Bugs
Green Asparagus is Frequently infested with insects and must be checked.
If the florets at the top of the stalks are removed; and the triangular-shaped leaves on the sides are also removed; and the stalks are washed thoroughly with a strong stream of water and a brush—the stalks may be eaten without further checking.
White Asparagus:
Wash thoroughly. Need not be checked.
