Figs, Dried : How to Check for Bugs
Dried figs are frequently infested with insects and must be checked.
Note: There is a different procedure for checking fresh figs.
How to check dried figs
1. Wash the outside and wash the stem well.
2. Cut open each fig.
3. Cut out a small portion around the top and discard.
4. Turn the fig inside out and look for webbing. This should be done by holding the fig up to a good light source.
5. If nothing is found, the fig may be eaten.
